Chaim Topol, also known simply as Topol, was an Israeli actor, singer, and producer. He was born on September 9, 1935, in Tel Aviv, Israel.

Topol is best known for his portrayal of the character Tevye in the stage and film productions of “Fiddler on the Roof.”

Topol began his career in the 1960s, and his breakthrough role came in 1964 when he played the lead role in the Israeli film “Sallah Shabati.”

He went on to portray Tevye in the London West End production of “Fiddler on the Roof” in 1967, and then in the 1971 film adaptation of the musical. Topol’s other notable film roles include playing the title character in “Galileo” (1975) and the Bond villain Milos Columbo in “For Your Eyes Only” (1981).

In addition to his acting career, Topol is also an accomplished singer and has released several albums throughout his career.

He has received numerous awards and honors for his work, including a Tony Award for his performance in the Broadway production of “Fiddler on the Roof” and the Israel Prize for lifetime achievement in the arts.

Chaim Topol died on March 8, 2023, at the age of 87.

Chaim Topol has three children. His first child, a daughter named Omer, was born in 1958.

His second child, a son named Assaf, was born in 1961, and his third child, a daughter named Anat, was born in 1965.

All three of Topol’s children have followed in their father’s footsteps and pursued careers in the entertainment industry. Omer is an actress, Assaf is a film producer, and Anat is a singer and songwriter.
