A major fire outbreak has reportedly destroyed a mechanic workshop at Abossey Okai in Accra, leaving about 17 vehicles burnt to ashes.
The fire, which broke out earlier today, caused panic within the area as thick smoke filled the sky while residents and nearby workers rushed to safety.
Videos and photos from the scene showed several cars completely engulfed in flames as people looked on helplessly.
According to eyewitnesses, the fire spread rapidly through parts of the workshop before emergency responders arrived at the scene.
At the time of filing this report, the exact cause of the fire remains unknown.
Personnel from the Ghana National Fire Service were reportedly deployed to control the situation and prevent the flames from spreading to nearby shops and workshops.
No casualties have been officially confirmed so far, although some property owners are feared to have suffered huge losses following the incident.
The latest fire outbreak has once again raised concerns over fire safety measures in busy commercial and industrial areas within Accra.
