In an interview, Ghanaian striker Jordan Ayew discussed his football heritage and the challenges of being the son of Abedi Pele, a legendary figure in Ghanaian and African football.

From 1991 to 1993, Abedi Pele, the legendary football player, won three awards for African best player.

Abedi Pele also played for Ghana’s team, which last won the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in 1982.

He further cemented his legendary position in 1992 by leading Ghana to a runners-up finish.

The highlight of Abedi Pele’s career was his role as the hero of Marseille’s 1993 UEFA Champions League victory.

The closest any of his sons have been to winning a major trophy with Ghana was in the 2010 and 2015 AFCON, where the Black Stars placed second. Nevertheless, they have found it difficult to duplicate their father’s accomplishment.

The closest any of Abedi’s kids have come to taking home the prized title on an individual basis is Andre Ayew, who finished in second place in the 2011 and 2015 African Player of the Year competitions.

Jordan Ayew, the current captain of the Black Stars, reflected on his career at the age of 33 and shared how challenging it is to follow in his father’s footsteps.

“My dad has done a lot, not only for me but for my whole family, Jordan told Leicester City.

“It is not so easy to come after your father in the sense of the expectations being so high back home and in Europe, he added.
