Who is Randy Owen’s mother and how did she die?

Alabama lead vocalist Randy Owen’s mother died on Thursday, the band revealed on social media, and the band has canceled two shows set for this weekend.

According to the group’s Post on Twitter, Martha Alice Teague Owen, a native of Fort Payne, Alabama, died surrounded by family members. According to AL.com, she died after a brief illness.

The band stated that a Friday night event in Roanoke, Virginia, as well as a Saturday night show in Fayetteville, North Carolina, had been canceled.

The Roanoke show has been moved to Dec. 9, with the Fayetteville show following two nights later.

Randy Owen, together with his cousins Teddy Gentry and Jeff Cook, established the country music group. All three are Fort Payne natives.

Martha Owen’s death was posted on the Berglund Center’s Facebook page, where Alabama was scheduled to perform on Friday.
