Mike Lindell was born Michael James Lindell in Mankato, Minnesota, on June 28, 1961. He was born and raised in the Minnesota towns of Carver and Chaska, where he began gambling as a youngster. Mike enrolled in the University of Minnesota after graduating from high school, but he dropped out after just a few months.

Lindell became hooked to cocaine in his twenties and began using crack in the 1990s. His first wife ended their marriage and his property was foreclosed due to his drug usage and gambling problems. Mike’s drug addiction had progressed to the point where his crack dealers staged an intervention in 2008.

Lindell claims that “They were three of the city’s most powerful dealers. They said I had been awake for the previous 19 days. They refused to sell to me in the future. One of them attempted to babysit me until I passed out.” Mike has stated that prayer was important in his sobriety in 2009.

Career

Mike started many small enterprises in Minnesota in the 1980s, including pubs, restaurants, and a carpet cleaning company. He created the My Pillow pillow in 2004 and marketed it at trade exhibitions, mall kiosks, and state fairs for the following few years. In 2009, he founded My Pillow, Inc., and the firm quickly grew after airing its first commercial in 2011.

The 30-minute broadcast cost $500,000 to make and aired 200 times every day on average. The infomercial, according to Lindell, “Became the world’s most popular infomercial. We went from five to 500 staff in 40 days.”

Political Activities
