One parent told The Daily Record : “The strike was in national news but all the local talk has been about Miss Buchan’s other job. The photos have been circulating like wildfire and parents have been talking via Whatsapp about it.
“The poses she did for OnlyFans weren’t just suggestive, they left nothing to the imagination. Some parents thought it funny but several have made complaints because the poses were just too extreme.”
Miss Buchan has previously sought a career as an actor, taking on small parts and advertising herself on acting websites.
The parents said: “She is the last person you would expect to be a science teacher but she obviously is very intelligent and she had an interest in amateur dramatics. She has been telling people that she was looking to supplement her teacher wages with the sideline but she knew there was always going to be a strong risk of getting sacked.
“We don’t know if she was intending to resign from the outset but the OnlyFans site wasn’t up for long and she took it down when it became known what she was up to. She has also taken down her Twitter profile.”
The teacher, on the other hand, has defended her actions.
She told The Record that she was forced to take on the extra work because her 11-year-old son recently developed a serious stomach condition and is awaiting surgery.
“Some people think I’m crazy to go from being a physics teacher to selling nude photos online,” the 33-year-old said. But it became clear to me that I was insane to stay at that job for six years under the strain that I was experiencing on a daily basis.
“I was staying up to 1am doing extra unpaid work and the stress was unbelievable. I was crying my eyes out at my situation and I didn’t know which way to turn. I had read about other teachers earning £50,000 a month on the site and I had a sick child at home who needed a mum who is earning.
“I have bills to pay and a mortgage and it wasn’t even a difficult decision. Glasgow City Council has come out and said they were going to discipline me but they were never going to get the satisfaction of that. I feel like a huge weight is off my mind now that I have told them what to do with their job.”
It was revealed that Kirsty Buchan has an Only Fans account where she posts explicit content
Miss Buchan went on to say that student gang brawls at Glasgow’s “war zone” school would sometimes last three days a week, and the conditions were far from what she had signed up for as a teacher.
“I’ve had one colleague have a plastic bag put over their head, and another nearly break their wrist after a door was kicked back at them,” she explained.
“I’ve had my share of difficult kids too but I have to say that I usually enjoyed my classes and I can say that the pupils loved me. I might sound immodest but I’m a great teacher and I put my heart and soul into my job. When I do something I do it well and it will be the same with my Only Fans account.”
She went on to say that since the news of her account went viral, her career on Fans Only has exploded, and she has earned $500 (£410) in just three days.
“I’ve had people say it’s my body and my decision what I do with it,” the physics teacher says, adding that her phone has been pinging incessantly with goodwill messages from students and teachers alike. That is the bottom line. I’m not ashamed of my body, and I discussed everything with my boyfriend before opening the account on Only Fans.
“I’m not turning into someone who’s having sex left, right and centre because I am in a serious, monogamous relationship and I’ve simply made a career choice that breaks no laws. It has been a bit stressful having to face up to being in the news but I am glad the Daily Record turned up because it will hopefully be good for business.”
Buchan said the only people criticising her are being sexist. She said: “I got a lot of sexism just by being a physics teacher, operating in a male dominated world. And I will get it because of what I have now chosen to do.
Miss Buchan has a profile on StarNow
“But people are just being misogynists if they put me down for this. And I bet half of them are women who are jealous because they wouldn’t be able to succeed at it themselves. I have worked hard and I went back to uni and did a postgraduate and I was juggling two jobs when my son was three years old.”
Miss Buchan also has a profile on StarNow, a LinkedIn-type platform for actors to find work and connect. On it she writes: “I am currently working as a Physics teacher and looking for some extra work on weekends and nights.
“I have experience across several industries and I have worked in promotions, catering, retail and I have also done some extra work in a low budget internet series.
“I am a very bubbly, outgoing person (always smiling and laughing!) and love to try new things. I take pride in doing a good job and I am very self motivated and driven.
“Any job working alongside people or leading a group (especially working with children) is a perfect match for my qualities and skills. My passion is voice acting and I can do several accents along with a range of voices from young to old, male or female. I also love science fiction and any role in a sci-fi series/shoot would be a dream to me.”
Bannerman High teachers are continuing with strike action in a dispute over dealing with alleged safety risks in the classroom.
The NASUWT union is striking this week over what it calls a “failure to make sufficient progress in addressing violent and abusive pupil behavior.” According to the union, some progress has been made, but the council has stated that teachers will be docked pay if they refuse to stay in a class with a student who is allegedly threatening their safety.
“This teacher was under investigation prior to tendering her resignation following the widespread distribution of wholly inappropriate and pornographic images,” a Glasgow City Council spokeswoman said.
“The council has a code of conduct that all employees should adhere to and a teacher who has actively pursued a second income on this type of website brings their school, the council and their profession into disrepute.
“We will be referring the details of our investigation to the General Teaching Council (GTC) and have responded to parental complaints made to the school.”
Later, a Glasgow City Council spokesperson told The Record said: “It is very telling that this person has tried to deflect from this situation by taking advantage of current news stories about the school which have no relation to the disciplinary proceedings.”
