According to the Mayo Clinic, Lewy body dementia is the second most common type of dementia after Alzheimer’s disease.

It happens when protein deposits known as Lewy bodies begin to accumulate in nerve cells in the brain, impairing both cognitive and motor abilities.

Sexton’s season of Survivor initially had the men and women divided into competing tribes, and he rose in the ranks to lead the men’s team before the groups were eventually merged when only ten contestants remained.

Sexton survived the Amazon for an impressive 21 days out of the show’s 39 days, but he was voted off when the women’s team persuaded several of the male contestants to vote against him.

His obituary states that he was born in Oakland, California, and grew up in the Bay Area before enlisting in the marines and serving in Vietnam from 1966 to 1967.

Sexton married Diane Rodrick in 1968 after his discharge, and he graduated from California Polytechnic Institute San Louis Obispo in 1971 with a Construction Management degree.
