Her parents were both from Barbados and had immigrated to the United Kingdom as part of the “[Windrush generation]”; her father worked as a bus driver and her mother as a pyjama factory worker. Malorie aspired to be an English teacher when she was younger, but she ended up becoming a systems programmer instead. She holds an HNC from Thames Polytechnic and is a National Film and Television School graduate.
