Uffe Ellemann-Jensen, who was Denmark’s foreign minister for more than 10 years from the early 1980s and was considered one of the Nordic region’s key politicians in the end phase of the Cold War, has died. He was 80.

Uffe Ellemann-Jensen, born on 1 November 1941, was a Danish politician who served as Minister for Foreign Affairs of Denmark in the Conservative-led Poul Schlüter Administration from 1982 to 1993.

Alice Vestergaard was born on July 29, 1937, in Aabybro, Denmark. She is a writer and director, known for I dag (1970), TV2 Nyhederne (1988), and Prins af Danmark (1984).

She has been married to Uffe Ellemann-Jensen since June 19, 1971. They have four children.

Vestergaard was educated at Ringsted Folketidende , from where she came to Vendsyssel Tidende in 1959 .

In 1963, she became a newsreader for Radioavisen as the first woman. In 1965, she became a studio host on TV Avisen – also the first woman.

In 1985, she joined Søndags BT as editor-in-chief but became head of the channel’s editorial office in Copenhagen with the establishment of TV 2 in 1988. She retired in 1999.
