A Teenage girl died after being mauled by a shark while swimming in an Australian river.
The 16-year-old is said to have been bitten on the leg after rope swinging into the Swan River in North Fremantle.
After the brutal attack, her boyfriend desperately tried to save her by pulling her onto the bank.
The beast that attacked her is thought to be a bull shark, which is common in Australian rivers.
However, there is no official confirmation of the species.
The teen had reportedly been rope swinging with friends off a nearby bridge.
After she fell into the water, the beast attacked, dragging her beneath the surface.
At around 3.30 p.m. local time, cops and paramedics arrived on the scene.
According to reports, there was some confusion at first because she was so badly injured by a boat propeller.
They tried to save the girl, but she was pronounced dead on the beach.
“The girl jumped off the rope swing and then a bull shark pulled her under and then her boyfriend tried to like help her get out,” a boy told The West Australian.
“And she passed away on the beach.”
It comes after dad-of-two Cameron Wrathall was attacked by a bull shark in the area two years ago.
He was bitten on his upper leg in the first attack of its kind in Swan River since 1986.
One local said they have noticed bull sharks coming close to the river banks.
He said: “It’s quite confronting. I always wear shark guards now.”
