Susan Collins is a Republican Senator representing the state of Maine since 1997.

Collins was first elected to the United States Senate in 1996, and from 2015 to 2021, he chaired the Senate Special Committee on Aging.

A member of the Republican Party, she has held her seat since 1997 and is Maine’s longest-serving member of Congress. Born in Caribou, Maine, Collins is a graduate of St. Lawrence University in Canton, New York

Collins, 73, is married to Thomas Daffron, whom he married at the Gray Memorial United Methodist Church in Maine in August 2012.

Daffron, 72, is a lobbyist who worked for Jefferson Consulting Group in Washington, DC, as the chief operations officer from 2006 until 2016.

Collin’s Senate races in 1996, 2002, and 2008 were all aided by him.

In the 105th Congress, Daffron was a member of the Stennis Center’s Stennis Congressional Employees Fellows Program, which is a practical, nonpartisan leadership development program for senior-level US Congress staff.
