Early Life and Career:

Stephen Bromhead was born in 1961 in Sydney, Australia. He spent his early years in the Sydney suburb of Maroubra and later moved to Port Stephens. He completed his schooling at St Joseph’s College in Hunters Hill, Sydney.

Bromhead worked as a police officer in the New South Wales Police Force for 15 years before entering politics.

During his time in the force, he worked in various roles, including as a detective in the Child Exploitation Internet Unit.

Bromhead joined the National Party of Australia in 2013 and was elected to the New South Wales Legislative Assembly in the 2015 state election, representing the electoral district of Myall Lakes. He was re-elected in the 2019 election.

Since his election, Bromhead has held various positions within the New South Wales Government.

He was appointed as the Parliamentary Secretary for the Hunter and Central Coast in 2017, and in 2019 he was promoted to the position of Assistant Minister for Skills.

In 2021, following a cabinet reshuffle, Bromhead was appointed as the Minister for Police and Emergency Services.

In this role, he oversees the New South Wales Police Force and the state’s emergency services, including the Rural Fire Service, State Emergency Service, and Marine Rescue New South Wales.
