A music producer appeared in court today charged with the murder of a student in Manchester.

Luke O’Connor, 19, was stabbed early Wednesday morning on Wilmslow Road in Fallowfield, Manchester. He was given CPR at the scene and taken to the hospital, but he died a short time later.

Shiloh George Pottinger, also 19, appeared in Manchester and Salford Magistrates’ Court today charged with Mr O’Connor’s murder.

Pottinger, also known as OSU, is accused of possessing a bladed article.

He spoke only to confirm his name, address, and date of birth while dressed in a grey tracksuit top and bottoms and his left hand in a bandage.

There were no pleas entered.

Pottinger, of Fallowfield, was remanded in custody by District Judge Mark Hadfield and the case was transferred to Manchester Crown Court, where he is scheduled to appear next on Wednesday.

Mr. O’Connor, from Bedfordshire, was a Manchester Metropolitan University second-year business management student.

Paying tribute, his family described him as ‘gentle giant’ and ‘one of a kind’.

‘Our hearts yearn for the loss of Luke; we are truly devastated by this tragedy,’ they said. ‘Luke was loved by so many people, and he knew how much he was loved in return.’

‘He loved the freedom of student living and studying and was loving life in Manchester.

‘Luke was the youngest of three boys in our family and was a gentle giant with big hopes and dreams for the future.

‘His greatest ambition was to travel the world, but Luke will never be able to realize that ambition.

‘Luke loved music and football, and he was a devoted fan of Liverpool Football Club, which he followed religiously since he was a child.

‘Throughout his life, he had a profound impact on so many people.’ He was truly one-of-a-kind, and his presence would brighten any room.

‘Our lively, bubbly, beautiful boy has been taken from us, and our family is now left with a hole in our hearts that will never be filled,’ the family added.

‘We need justice because we lost our beautiful young Luke, who was robbed of his life.’

Pottinger has over 14,000 monthly listeners, according to his Spotify page.
