A schoolgirl has died and another has been left injured after they were hit by a car in Leicester.
A black Vauxhall Astra that ran off the road at the intersection of Braunstone Lane and Mortimer Way soon after 11 a.m. today struck and killed the two girls, both 14 years old.
One of the kids was identified as dead on the spot. The other person experienced injuries that were neither life-threatening nor irreversible.
A 30-year-old guy was brought to a hospital in Coventry to receive serious injury treatment.
According to Leicestershire Police, traffic closures are still in effect while investigations into the event are ongoing. At this moment, no one has been arrested.
Detective Sergeant Lisa Wood, from the force’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit (SCIU), said: ‘While we’ve spoken to a number of people who were in the area at the time, I am particularly keen to speak to any motorists with dashcams in their vehicles.
‘I’d like to speak to anyone who saw the Astra prior to it leaving the road or who saw the collision occur.
‘Any information you have could help my investigation.’
