Real Madrid legend Iker Casillas forcefully DENIES he’s dating long-time Spain team-mate Gerard Pique’s ex Shakira after finalising his divorce, mocking reports of a new relationship on Instagram

Former Real Madrid star Iker Casillas has denied dating Shakira, the ex-wife of his long-time Spain teammate Gerard Pique.

Casillas recently divorced Spanish sports journalist Sara Carbonero, but rumors circulated that he was now seeing the Colombian pop star following her divorce from Barcelona defender Pique.

The 41-year-recent old’s Instagram follow of Shakira fueled speculation about the nature of the pair’s relationship, but Casillas has taken to the platform to dispel the rumors that he is now dating the Grammy Award winner.

In a series of Instagram stories, the former goalkeeper posted screen grabs of articles alluding to his new relationship, followed by an emoji indicating he has no idea where these stories came from.

After 12 years together, Shakira and Pique announced their divorce in June. They met in 2012 when the Spanish defender appeared in the Waka Waka (This Time For Africa) video, and they have two children together, Milan, 9, and Sasha, 7.

Pique has come under fire again since the split with Shakira for his new relationship with Clara Chia Marti, a 23-year-old PR student, just months after their divorce was confirmed.

The singer was said to be upset that the Spaniard made the romance public after kissing his new love interest in a video taken by Spanish media outlet Socialite last month at the Summerfest Cerdanya festival in Catalonia.

Casillas, meanwhile, divorced journalist Sara Carbonero in 2021 after five years and two children.

They famously shared a romantic moment on live television when Carbonero interviewed the goalkeeper shortly after Spain won the World Cup. However, after twelve years together, they ended things amicably.
