Rangers have signed midfielder Todd Cantwell from Norwich City on what the Ibrox club say is “a long-term deal”.

The 24-year-old, who is Rangers manager Michael Beale’s first signing, came through the Norwich academy but fell out of favor with new boss David Wagner.

Cantwell made 129 appearances for Norwich City, including 45 in the Premier League, and also spent time on loan with Bournemouth and Fortuna Sittard.

“I am overjoyed and very proud,” he told Rangers TV.

“This is obviously a massive football club and I am delighted to get started.

“They want to see a player who works hard and can win games, and that’s what I’m hoping to bring.”

“We believe he will be a key player for the club in the coming seasons,” Beale said of Cantwell, who is “fully aligned” to Rangers’ playing style.

“I’m excited to work with him on the field this week and welcome him to our fantastic football club.”
