R Kelly ordered to pay $300,000 in damages to sex abuse victim
R Kelly, the disgraced R&B singer, appeared via video link from prison in Chicago, where he is serving a 30-year sentence.
He will not be eligible for release until he is in his 80s because he has yet to be sentenced for his most recent convictions.
R&B singer R Kelly has been ordered to pay more than $300,000 (£276,000) to one of his victims to cover the costs of herpes treatment and psychotherapy for the abuse she suffered.
The victim, who wishes to remain anonymous, claims Kelly infected her with a sexually transmitted disease during one of their encounters.
The disgraced singer, 55, is already in prison, serving a 30-year sentence for racketeering, bribery, and forced labor.
He was convicted earlier this month on six of thirteen counts in a trial involving images of child abuse and enticing minors for sex.
He was acquitted on another pornography count as well as a conspiracy to obstruct justice charge for allegedly fixing his child pornography trial in 2008.
The Grammy winner was discovered to have devised a complex scheme to sexually exploit young singers and children.
