Police launch hunt for man after woman in her 20s ‘was raped in horrifying attack’

Met Police have launched a manhunt for an unidentified man following the rape of a woman in her early twenties in a ‘horrifying attack’ in London last year.

As part of their investigation into the alleged attack, detectives released two photographs of the man today.

An investigation was launched after police were called to a property in Forest Gate, Stratford, around 11 p.m. on December 12.

Officers are now asking the public for assistance in identifying a man they want to speak with in order to move their investigation forward.

‘This is a truly horrifying incident, which no person should ever be subject to,’¬†Detective Inspector Jeremy McDermott, from the North East Command Unit, said in his plea for information.

‘We have carried out a number of enquiries since the incident was reported and are now asking for members of the public to assist with our investigation.

Detectives released two photographs of the man today as part of their investigation into the alleged attack. An investigation was launched after police responded to a property in Forest Gate, Stratford on December 12 around 11pm

‘We would ask anyone who recognises the man in the photos to call us or Crimestoppers as soon as possible.’

Anyone with information about the man’s identity is asked to call the police at 101 and reference CAD 2709 of 16/11/2022. Tipsters can also call Crimestoppers anonymously at 0800 555 111.

Meanwhile, police have stated that a “number of inquiries” have been conducted in connection with the attack.

They claim the victim is still receiving specialized care.
