Pamela Rendi-Wagner Parents

Pamela Rendi-Wagner is an Austrian physician and politician who served as the leader of the Austrian Social Democratic Party (SPÖ) from 2018 to 2021. She was born on November 7, 1971, in Vienna, Austria.

Prior to her political career, Rendi-Wagner worked as a physician specializing in infectious diseases, public health and tropical medicine.

She has held various positions in the field of public health, both nationally and internationally, and has also worked for the World Health Organization (WHO).

In 2017, Rendi-Wagner joined the SPÖ, and the following year she was elected as the party’s leader, becoming the first woman to hold the position.

Under her leadership, the party placed second in the 2019 European Parliament election, but suffered losses in the 2019 Austrian legislative election.

Rendi-Wagner resigned as the SPÖ leader in June 2021, following the party’s poor performance in the 2021 Vienna state election.

Pamela Rendi-Wagner was born to Christine Wagner. Rendi-Wagner’s mother was a kindergarten teacher, her father is a professor of social psychology.

In regular contacts, her politically engaged father introduced her to political and feminist ideas.  She has two half-brothers.
