Pamela Chopra was an Indian film producer, playback singer, and the widow of legendary film director and producer Yash Chopra. She was born on February 19, 1948, in Lahore, British India (present-day Pakistan).
Pamela Chopra began her career as a playback singer in the Hindi film industry, and she lent her voice to several hit songs in the 1960s and 1970s. She made her acting debut with the film “Aahuti” in 1978.
However, she is best known for her work as a film producer. She co-produced several successful films under the banner of Yash Raj Films, including “Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge,” “Mohabbatein,” and “Jab Tak Hai Jaan.”
After the death of her husband Yash Chopra in 2012, Pamela Chopra took over as the chairperson of Yash Raj Films and continued to oversee the production of several successful films.
In addition to her work in the film industry, she is also involved in several philanthropic activities, including supporting the Pamela and Yash Chopra Foundation, which focuses on providing healthcare and education to underprivileged communities in India.
Pamela Chopra has received several awards and honors for her contributions to the Indian film industry, including the National Film Award for Best Film on Family Welfare for “Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge” in 1995.
She was also honored with the prestigious Padma Shri award by the Government of India in 2008 for her contributions to Indian cinema.
