Multiple fatalities in shooting at Walmart store in Virginia
Although the suspect’s death was confirmed by police, it remains unknown how many others in Chesapeake have been murdered or injured.
According to officials, there have been several fatalities and numerous injuries in a shooting at a Virginia Walmart.
According to police spokesman officer Leo Kosinski, it took place in the city of Chesapeake, and police were summoned shortly after 10 p.m. local time.
“Chesapeake Police confirm an active shooter incident at the Walmart on Sam’s Circle that resulted in fatalities. The City of Chesapeake reported that the shooter has passed away.
Although it was unclear how many people had died, Mr. Kosinski claimed that “less than 10 right now” were deceased.
I am beyond devastated that America’s most recent mass shooting occurred in a Walmart in my district tonight in Chesapeake, Virginia, tweeted Senator Louise Lucas.
“Until we find answers to stop this epidemic of gun violence in our nation that has claimed so many lives, I will not rest.”
Numerous other people were hurt, and five casualties were reportedly being treated at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital in Norfolk, a nearby city.
According to Mr. Kosinski, although one individual was discovered dead outside the property, investigators suspect the shooting occurred inside the store.
If the shooter committed suicide, that fact is unknown.
