Matt Hancock is a British politician who served as the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care from July 2018 until June 2021.
He was a Member of Parliament (MP) for West Suffolk from 2010 until 2021. As Health Secretary, he was responsible for overseeing the National Health Service (NHS) and social care services in England, as well as public health initiatives and responses to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Hancock played a prominent role in the UK’s response to the pandemic, implementing policies such as lockdowns and vaccination programs.
However, he resigned from his position in June 2021 following controversy over his handling of the pandemic, including accusations of breaking COVID-19 rules himself.
Hancock served as a junior minister at the Department for Business, Innovation, and Skills from 2012 to 2015 and was the United Kingdom Anti-Corruption Champion from 2014 to 2015.
He attended David Cameron’s cabinet as Minister for the Cabinet Office and Paymaster General from 2015 to 2016.
