Laura Muir is a Scottish middle- and long-distance runner, who won the 2020 Tokyo Olympic silver medallist in the 1500 meters, having previously finished seventh in the 1500m final at the 2016 Rio Olympics.
He was born on 9 May 1993 and raised in Minathort, Perth. She attended Kinross High School, the same school as 400m hurdler Eilidh Doyle.
Laura Muir made her international debut at the 2011 European Cross Country Championship when she was part of the Great Britain junior women’s team that won gold.
She was seventh in the event at the 2016 Rio Olympics and won a gold medal at the 2018 European championships in the 1500 meters as well as she won two gold medals at the 2017 European Indoor championships in the 1500m and 3000m and in the 2019 European Indoor championships again she won two gold medals in 1500m and 3000m respectively.
She finished fifth over the 1500m at the 2015 World Championships held in Beijing in a time of 4:11.48.
