Lance Kendricks, a former NFL tight end, was arrested for DUI on Sunday in Santa Monica, Calif., when police say he was found passed out behind the wheel with the engine still running.
Officers responded to reports of a Ford Bronco “swerving” near Ocean and San Vicente Boulevard in Santa Monica around 2:18 a.m. on Sunday, according to Santa Monica Police.
When officers arrived, they discovered Kendricks, 34, “passed out in the driver’s seat with the engine still running,” with “clear symptoms of intoxication.”
“SMPD Officers conducted standardized field sobriety tests and decided that Kendricks had operated a motor vehicle while intoxicated,” police stated in a statement. He was arrested on suspicion of DUI.”
Kendricks was eventually “cited out on the charge,” according to authorities.
According to TMZ, Kendricks took a breathalyzer test and blew more than double the legal limit of.08. He allegedly posted $5,000 bond and was freed later that morning.
Kendricks, who played in the NFL for nine seasons, last appeared in 2019.
