A Ghanaian lady by the name of Augustina Kwesie Osabutey has grabbed attention on the internet after news of her almost grass to grace story started circulating online.
The news was first shared by Ghanaian online portal YEN.com.gh who spoke exclusively with Augustina. The young lady indicated that she is at the South Dakota State University as a PhD student in Agricultural, Biosystems, and Mechanical Engineering, years after hawking on the streets of Accra to fund her education.
Augustina also has a Master’s Certificate in Ecological Restoration as well as a Master’s Degree in Environmental Engineering from the Montana Technological University. Before going into the university, she had to hawk pastries to buy herself the admission forms and other provisions; and this continued throughout her studies at the University of Mines and Technology.
She recalled: “I had to sell pastries in the streets of Axim after senior high school to support my family, buy admission forms and obtain money for my school fees after gaining admission to pursue my BSc. in University of Mines and Technology.”
