Who is Kofi Joe Bowen?
A heartbroken family has paid tribute to a 19-year-old who died last year.
Kofi Joe Bowen was described as a “loving” son and a “fantastic” brother after his untimely death at home on December 4 just weeks before Christmas.
Kofi, who turned 20 just over a month later, was described as a “one in a million” Southport teen.
His cousin Phoebe Owen told the ECHO: “A loving son, fantastic brother, wonderful grandson, amazing nephew and the best cousin. Kofi was very unique, so funny, the greatest mimic, extremely profound, and his mum’s bestest friend.
“There isn’t enough words to describe how much we love Kofi. He will always live on with us in our lives, we can’t wait to tell our next generation all the amazing times we have shared with Kofi, such as mountain walks, weekends away with Nan and Grandad in the Lake District, family days and many many more memories.
“We know now that he is at peace and that’s the most comforting thing, a star shines bright every night.
The 4th of December will be a day we celebrate for the rest of our lives remembering what an exceptional young man Kofi was, heaven is a beautiful place when someone is there that you love.”
His mother said in an emotional tribute: “You were my true best friend, and I miss seeing and holding you every day.
My first true love, my first child, and my entire world. I hope you’re at peace, Kofi; I’ll always love you.”
Phoebe added: “My lifelong best friend, I will forever make you proud. Thank you for an amazing childhood I’ll never forget our play dates or the laughs we shared. You were one a million.
“Love you forever fly high my hero. Please look out for your friends and family, and make sure they’re okay when they say they are.
Always be kind and smile, you never know how much you might just make someone’s day.”
