A woman has acknowledged robbing a man of his mobility scooter before he slumped and died outside a Tesco.
Kimberley Hawkins, 40, stole the car on January 22 in Stroud, Gloucestershire, and assaulted Neil Shadwick.
A member of staff discovered the 63-year-old fallen outside the supermarket.
He was brought to the hospital but was unable to be saved, and his mobility scooter was discovered abandoned later that day.
Hawkins appeared in Gloucester Crown Court today, where she admitted to aggravated vehicle taking without consent.
She also admitted to attacking Neil and causing him substantial bodily harm.
Neil suffered a number of health issues at the time including Parkinson’s.
He also had a stroke shortly before he died and difficulty communicating verbally.
The court was told prosecutors are currently trying to track down experts in “neurological and pathologist fields”.
Sarah Jenkins, defending, said Hawkins was “effectively living in a tent when she was arrested” and would have no place to go if she left custody.
Hawkins’ lawyer also acknowledged that she “needs to begin detox from her methadone prescription.”
Judge Ian Lawrie KC delayed the hearing until August 18, but cautioned that further delays were possible.
