Khayri McLean: Details of how 15-year-old arrested over murder of pupil stabbed to death outside school

A 15-year-old boy has been arrested in connection with the murder of 15-year-old Khayri McLean who was fatally stabbed outside his school in Huddersfield, West Yorkshire Police said.

He is the second person arrested in relation to the death.

At 2.45 pm on Wednesday, Khayri was fatally stabbed near the entrance to North Huddersfield Trust School (NHTS) in Woodhouse Hill.

On Thursday, the police arrested a 16-year-old boy on suspicion of murder.

West Yorkshire Police did not specify what the 15-year-old boy was arrested on suspicion of, only that he was still in custody.

“Police investigating the murder of 15-year-old Khayri Mclean in Huddersfield have arrested a second youth in connection with the incident,” the statement said.

“A 15-year-old male was arrested yesterday and is currently being held in custody.” A 16-year-old male arrested yesterday is still in custody.

“Officers from West Yorkshire Police’s homicide and major inquiry team (HMET) are continuing to investigate Khayri’s death after he was stabbed on Woodhouse Hill in Huddersfield on Wednesday.”
