Kentucky student, Sophia Rosing arrested after video shows her using slur, assaulting Black students

According to an online record from the Fayette County Detention Center, Sophia Rosing, a white 22-year-old woman, was detained by police just before 4 a.m. at a campus dorm on suspicion of public intoxication, third-degree assault on a police officer, fourth-degree assault, and second-degree disorderly conduct. She is being held on a $10,000 bond.

In a video of the incident that went viral on social media on Sunday, Rosing is heard yelling a racial epithet as she slaps a lady who works at a hostel front desk. Rosing, who is shown in the video struggling to maintain her balance and appearing to be visibly intoxicated, is being restrained by the student.

The victim responds, “I do not get paid enough for this,” as Rosing uses a racial epithet at her.

Someone recording the assault comments, “I got this all on camera.”

The second victim and the first victim are then shown in the video attempting to sit Rosing in a chair. Before attempting to kick the first victim, Rosing attempts to punch the second victim; it is unknown if she hit either person.

Rosing is seen repeating the racial epithet and struggling to stay upright as a white male police officer handcuffs her in the dorm as the video comes to an end.

Any of the phone numbers publicly published under Rosing’s name remained unanswered. Additionally, her account’s Facebook message went unanswered.

Due to federal privacy rules, the school is not identifying the victims, a spokesperson said.
