Joe Pavelski is an American professional ice hockey player who currently serves as the captain of the Dallas Stars in the National Hockey League (NHL).

He was born on July 11, 1984, in Plover, Wisconsin, and grew up playing hockey in the nearby town of Stevens Point.

Pavelski played college hockey at the University of Wisconsin, where he was a key player on the Badgers team that won the NCAA championship in 2006.

He was drafted by the San Jose Sharks in the seventh round of the 2003 NHL Entry Draft, and he made his NHL debut with the team in 2006.
