Joe Pavelski is an American professional ice hockey player who currently serves as the captain of the Dallas Stars in the National Hockey League (NHL).
He was born on July 11, 1984, in Plover, Wisconsin, and grew up playing hockey in the nearby town of Stevens Point.
Pavelski played college hockey at the University of Wisconsin, where he was a key player on the Badgers team that won the NCAA championship in 2006.
He was drafted by the San Jose Sharks in the seventh round of the 2003 NHL Entry Draft, and he made his NHL debut with the team in 2006.
During his time with the Sharks, Pavelski established himself as one of the league’s top scorers and leaders.
He was named the team’s captain in 2015 and helped lead the team to its first-ever Stanley Cup Final appearance in 2016. In 2019, Pavelski signed a three-year contract with the Dallas Stars.
Pavelski is known for his scoring ability, especially on the power play, as well as his leadership and work ethic.
He has been named to the NHL All-Star team six times and has represented the United States in international competition on multiple occasions.
Off the ice, Pavelski is known for his charitable work and was awarded the NHL Foundation Player Award in 2020 in recognition of his community service.
