Jerry Springer, one of the most powerful and controversial people in television history, has died, according to TMZ.

Jerry Springer hosted the blockbuster hit syndicated talk show “The Jerry Springer Show” for 27 years… and there was never a dull moment on the loud and chaotic show — which was known for its outrageous guests who generally got into spectacular fights as the crowd screamed, “Jerry, Jerry, Jerry, Jerry!”

According to a family representative, Jerry had a “brief illness.” According to our sources, he was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer a few months ago, and this week he began to deteriorate.
