Jason Peter Watkins is a British actor, born on October 30, 1967, in Albrighton, Shropshire, England. He is known for his work on stage, television, and film, and has won several awards throughout his career.

Watkins started his acting career in the early 1990s, and his first major role came in 1995 when he played the character of Gavin Strong in the television series “The Bill.”

He then went on to play a wide range of roles in various British television dramas, including “Waking the Dead,” “Hotel Babylon,” and “Being Human.”

In 2014, Watkins won the Best Actor award at the British Academy Television Awards for his portrayal of the murdered schoolteacher Christopher Jefferies in the drama series “The Lost Honour of Christopher Jefferies.”

He is also known for his role as the bumbling PR executive Simon Harwood in the BBC comedy series “W1A.”

On stage, Watkins has performed in productions of Shakespeare plays such as “A Midsummer Night’s Dream,” “The Taming of the Shrew,” and “Hamlet.”

He has also appeared in productions of contemporary plays such as “The Caretaker” and “A View from the Bridge.”

In addition to his acting work, Watkins is an ambassador for the charity Action for Children, and has spoken publicly about his own experiences of mental health issues.

Jason Watkins and Clara Francis have five children: Maude Watkins, Freddie Watkins, Pip Watkins, Bessie Watkins, and Gilbert Watkins. He has two sons with his ex-wife, Caroline Harding.

Their two-year-old daughter, Maude Watkins, died of sepsis. Watkins dedicated his 2015 BAFTA award to her after her death and advocated for increased sepsis awareness.
