A man has denied murdering a Northumbria University student who was discovered dead in the halls.
On September 27, police were called to reports of a 24-year-old man’s welfare at Mansion Tyne student accommodation on Howard Street in Newcastle.
Jason Brockbanks, of Whitehaven, Cumbria, was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency personnel.
Aaron Ray, of Sunderland, Tyne and Wear, appeared in Newcastle Crown Court today and pleaded not guilty to his murder.
On March 14, next year, the 21-year-old will stand trial in the same court, which could last five days.
Ray was remanded in custody in the meantime, and no bail application was made.
