Jake McCarthy is a professional baseball player from the United States. He was born on February 26, 1998, in Scranton, Pennsylvania.

McCarthy is an outfielder who bats left-handed and throws right-handed.

McCarthy played college baseball at the University of Virginia, where he was a standout player for the Cavaliers.

In his sophomore year, he hit .304 with six home runs, 41 RBI, and 22 stolen bases in 61 games.

He also earned All-ACC Second Team honors that year. In his junior year, he hit .287 with four home runs, 35 RBI, and 16 stolen bases in 47 games.

McCarthy was selected by the Arizona Diamondbacks in the first round of the 2018 MLB Draft, with the 39th overall pick.

He made his professional debut that year, playing for the Hillsboro Hops of the Class A-Short Season Northwest League. In 32 games, he hit .288 with two home runs, 13 RBI, and seven stolen bases.

In 2019, McCarthy played for the Visalia Rawhide of the Class A-Advanced California League, where he hit .224 with two home runs, 21 RBI, and 20 stolen bases in 75 games. He missed some time due to injury that year.

In 2021, McCarthy played for the Amarillo Sod Poodles of the Double-A Central league, where he hit .223 with two home runs, 27 RBI, and 14 stolen bases in 81 games.
