Richard Wayne Van Dyke (often known simply as Dick Van Dyke) is an American actor, comedian, singer, and dancer who was born on December 13, 1925, in West Plains, Missouri.

He is best known for his roles in a number of iconic television shows and films, including “The Dick Van Dyke Show,” “Mary Poppins,” and “Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.”

Van Dyke started his career in radio before moving on to television and film. His breakout role was on “The Dick Van Dyke Show,” which aired from 1961 to 1966.

In the show, he played Rob Petrie, the head writer for a comedy sketch show, and won three Primetime Emmy Awards for his performance.

Van Dyke has also had a successful film career, with notable roles in “Mary Poppins” (1964), “Chitty Chitty Bang Bang” (1968), and “Night at the Museum” (2006).

He received a Golden Globe for his role in “The Comic” (1969) and was nominated for an Emmy for his work in “The Gin Game” (2003).

In addition to acting, Van Dyke is also known for his singing and dancing abilities. He starred in a number of musicals on Broadway and in films, including “Bye Bye Birdie” (1963) and “Hello, Dolly!” (1969).

Van Dyke has been married twice and has four children. He is also a philanthropist and has been involved with a number of charitable organizations throughout his career.

His first marriage was to Margie Willett in 1948, and they had four children together. However, they divorced in 1984 after 36 years of marriage.

In 2012, at the age of 86, Van Dyke married Arlene Silver, who was 40 years his junior. Silver is a makeup artist and they met while he was a patient at a rehabilitation center where she worked.
