However, in 2006, she was diagnosed with bladder cancer and had surgery to save her life.
Waterman and Pam Flint, stars of Minder and The Sweeney, married in November 2011.
He had previously married Penny Dixon, Patricia Maynard, and Rula Lenska. This was his fourth marriage.
The pair had been married for almost 10 years, and Pam remained at his side till the end.
“We are terribly heartbroken to announce that our dear Dennis passed away quite quietly at his home in Spain on Saturday evening, with Pam at his side,” the family said in a statement.
