David Carric: Met diplomatic protection officer, 47, accused of 44 sex offences against 12 women

A Met Police officer accused of being a serial sex attacker and rapist has had his detention period extended ahead of his February trial.

PC David Carrick, 47, appeared in court on Wednesday, denying 44 counts of rape, sexual assault, and assault by penetration against 12 different women between 2003 and 2020.

Carrick, a firearms officer with the Met’s Parliamentary and Diplomatic Protection Command, used to work on the Parliamentary estate.

He has denied numerous counts of sexual offenses, including 21 counts of rape.

The first charge leveled against him was that he raped a woman in a hotel room on September 5, 2020, following a Tinder date.

Carrick, who has been suspended by the Met, is also accused of raping a woman in the woods and sexually assaulting her by urinating on her and hitting her with a belt.

According to the indictment, Carrick raped, sexually assaulted, and forced some women to perform degrading sex acts, and one woman was falsely imprisoned in a cupboard under the stairs.

Carrick appeared at the Old Bailey today via videolink from Rampton Hospital, wearing a black T-shirt.

Mrs Justice Cheema-Grubb extended his custody time limit until 13 February.

She said: ‘This is an application to extend the custody time limits which expire presently on 11 November of this year.

‘The case is listed to be heard [for trial] on 6 February next year at Southwark Crown Court.

‘Although I have been told that this application has not been consented to there are no particular grounds of objection.

‘These are serious charges that Mr Carrick faces.

‘The custody time limits will be extended in respect of all charges to a week beyond the trial date 13 February 2023.’

The time estimate for the trial is eight weeks.

He denies all of the charges, and the issue at trial will be consent.
