Cops: Texas Woman shot dead by ex while telling 911 operator her marriage was over

A Texas woman was telling 911 that her marriage had recently ended and that she was in a heated argument with her ex-husband when the man fatally shot her before turning the gun on himself, authorities said.

The apparent murder-suicide occurred outside an apartment complex in the Dallas suburb of Lewisville about 5:30 a.m. Thursday.

The former couple was arguing in the parking lot in the 500 block of East Farm-to-Market Road 3040 when multiple gunshots went out.

According to police, the woman had called 911 moments before to report the domestic altercation.

“The female told dispatchers her marriage to the male had recently ended,” cops said, according to CBS News. “A short time later, while the female was on the phone with 911, multiple gunshots could be heard, and the call went silent.”

Witnesses immediately began dialing 911 to report the crime, informing dispatchers that the man had shot the woman before killing himself.

When cops arrived, they discovered the woman with several gunshot wounds to the chest and her ex-husband with what seemed to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head, according to police.

The person was brought to a local hospital and later pronounced dead.

The suspected gunman died at the hospital roughly an hour after his ex-wife died.

The man and woman’s identities have not been disclosed as of Friday morning.

Police said they were familiar with the couple from past calls to their residence related to mostly non-violent domestic violence complaints.

In one instance, however, the husband had slashed the wife’s tires, according to a police department spokesman.
