Christina Applegate gained 40 pounds and now ‘can’t walk without a cane due to her MS battle.
Christina Applegate revealed that she has gained 40 pounds and “can’t walk without a cane” since being diagnosed with multiple sclerosis.
“This is the first time anyone is going to see me the way I am,” the actress, 50, said of the upcoming third and final season of “Dead to Me” on Monday.
Applegate stated that she is “very aware” of her physical and mobility changes.
“I’ll never accept this,” she admitted. “I’m irritated.”
The Emmy winner went on to say that she had to “process the loss of [her] life” and that she is still not “completely fine.”
The interview came one year after Applegate started talking about her MS battle.
“I was diagnosed with MS a few months ago,” the Tony nominee, who has an 11-year-old daughter Sadie with husband Martyn LeNoble, tweeted in August 2021.
“It’s been an odd journey,” she said at the time. “However, I’ve received tremendous support from people I know who also have this condition.”
Applegate requested “privacy” in light of her “tough road” ahead, writing, “As we all know, the road continues to go.” Unless some jackass gets in the way.”
While the “Married… with Children” alum subsequently stayed out of the public eye, she did give a health update three months later while celebrating her birthday.
“Yup. Today is my 50th birthday. “And I have MS,” she tweeted in November 2021. “It’s been a difficult one.”
With “Dead to Me” returning to Netflix on November 17, Applegate has been preparing for her first public event, posting a photo of the walking sticks that have become her “new normal” last month.
