Bobby Caldwell is an American singer, songwriter, and musician. He was born on August 15, 1951, in Manhattan, New York City, but grew up in Miami, Florida.

Caldwell is best known for his hit songs in the 1970s and 1980s, including “What You Won’t Do for Love” and “My Flame.”

Caldwell began his music career as a drummer and guitarist, playing in various bands in Miami. In 1978, he released his debut solo album, self-titled “Bobby Caldwell,” which featured the hit single “What You Won’t Do for Love.”

The song reached #9 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and became a classic of the era.

Caldwell continued to release albums throughout the 1980s and 1990s, including “Cat in the Hat,” “August Moon,” and “Soul Survivor.” He also collaborated with other artists, such as Jack Splash, and released a live album with his band in 2015.

In addition to his successful music career, Caldwell has also written songs for other artists, such as Chicago, Boz Scaggs, and Peter Cetera.

Caldwell has a distinctive vocal style that blends elements of soul, jazz, and R&B, and his music has influenced many contemporary artists. He has received numerous accolades throughout his career, including a Grammy nomination in 1979.
