After desperately attempting to save his son, the father was rescued by members of the public and is being treated in hospital for severe head and body injuries.

Despite his father’s attempts to fight off the 11-foot crocodile during a terrifying attack, a one-year-old baby boy was eaten by a crocodile.

As his 45-year-old father Moherat was tying up their boat at a beach on the coast of Borneo, the aggressive reptile lunged out of the water and grabbed the infant.

At around 10.30 a.m. yesterday (Thursday, December 1), traumatized witnesses witnessed the crocodile attack on the father and son in Lahad Datu, a town in the Malaysian part of the island.

Sumosoa Rashid, the fire and rescue chief, described how Moherat was rescued by members of the public after suffering severe head and body injuries that are being treated at Lahad Datu Hospital.

However, the father was unable to save his defenseless child, with Rashid adding: “Despite his best efforts, the man ended up with numerous bite wounds and was unable to stop his son from being dragged underwater.

Several viral videos show how the victim (his child) was attacked by the crocodile, grabbed, and dragged to a nearby river.”

The toddler has yet to be found despite extensive search and rescue efforts, and is presumed dead.

Crocodile attacks are still rare and isolated, but a 12-foot crocodile bit off an eight-year-old boy’s head last month while he was on a fishing trip with his family in Costa Rica.

Julio Otero Fernandez’s terrified family could only watch helplessly as the animal killed him.

An eyewitness to the attack said: “It jolted him and ripped off his tiny head. It then grabbed him once more and dragged him under.”

Meanwhile, in July, a 14-year-old girl was mauled to death by a crocodile in Indonesia while she was washing her clothes in the river.
