A couple of weeks ago, New York Representative, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez took over the internet after announcing that, he’s engaged to his long-time yet secret boyfriend Riley Roberts.
Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, a New York Representative, keeps her personal life quiet, and her relationship with web developer fiancé Riley Roberts is low-key. It’s so low-key that you might not even realize they’re in a relationship. Or even that she had a boyfriend (I, for one, had no idea). So, who is Riley Roberts, the secretive and passionately supportive soon-to-be spouse of one of America’s most promising politicians?
Who is Riley Roberts?
According to Business Insider, the couple met when they were undergraduate students at Boston University in 2011. They dated in college, but broke up when they were done with school. Roberts then moved to Arizona.
The two then rekindled their romance when he moved to New York.
Roberts is characterized as a “easygoing redhead” in a 2018 Vogue feature on Ocasio-Cortez, who says he’s been supportive of her for a long time:
Then there’s Roberts, whom Ocasio-Cortez met at a monthly Friday-afternoon talk held by the dean at BU, “in classic geeky form,” she adds. He eventually relocated to be with her from Arizona. He casually mentioned tax rates in the 1950s when I first met him backstage at The Daily Show.
According to Insider, Ocasio-Cortez frequently led similar Coffee & Conversations groups at BU. According to the article, she would frequently close sessions “with meaningful conclusions that incorporated ‘her own twist’ on the issue,” according to a college buddy.
